The Bootleg Mixtape by Sean G

When thinking of a DJ to tackle the task of the Bootleg Collection II Mixtape, we came up with one man… Sean G.  A pedigree of a DJ and not just some put-the-latest-hottest-shit-from-the-radio-on-so-her-butt-shakes type of DJ.

The concept for the Mixtape was simple, LAX-JFK in the form of Hip Hop music.  We start with an L.A. joint, then go to NY, then back to L.A., then NY and so on and so on…  Borrowing (or Bootlegging) ATCQ’s iconic Midnight Marauders album cover and replacing it with our very own Marauding Midnight list of MC’s, which will also serve as a concept for an upcoming t-shirt design dropping August 9th.  Obviously it’s IMPOSSIBLE to feature all of our favorite MC’s, but we think this is a fair assessment.  You’ll note the obvious bias to a particular era of Hip Hop, but what can I say I’m OLD AS F*CK!

Wayback Wednesdays X Bootleg Collection II Stacks is High Inspiration

Posted in LAX-JFK Private Label, music, Wayback Wednesdays with tags , , , , , on May 2, 2012 by LAX-JFK

Today we have a hybrid post (if you will), taking you on a Wayback Wednesday and talking Inspiration for the Stacks is High t-shirt.  With Jay Dee on the Beat, Maseo on the wheels, Posdnuos & Trugoy on the Mics, how can you NOT be inspired?

If you follow us on Twitter (LAXtoJFK) or Instagram (same handle), you’ve seen a sneak peak of patterns & looks that inspired our latest collection slated to drop in a couple of weeks.  We’re staying away from conventional Seasons, dropping pieces when we’re ready to do so…

Our inspiration featured here is taken from what may arguably be one of the BEST Hip Hop Songs/Albums of all time, back when lyrical content meant more than a butt-shacking beat or catchy hook.

For this project, we’re presenting a “flip” on the design I’m sure you’ll find provocative.

Collection will be available on www.LAX2JFK.comTradition (Thousand Oaks) and Brooklyn Projects (Melrose, L.A.).  Stay tuned to our blog for more info.

Bootleg Collection II Marauding Midnight Inspiration

If you follow us on Twitter (LAXtoJFK) or Instagram (same handle), you’ve seen a sneak peak of patterns & looks that inspired our latest collection slated to drop in a couple of weeks.  We’re staying away from conventional Seasons, dropping pieces when we’re ready to do so…

Our Inspiration featured here is taken from what may arguably be one of the BEST Hip Hop Albums of all time, Midnight Marauders.  If you watched ATCQ’s doc, Beats, Rhymes & Life, you remember the discussion sorrounding which artists made the Album Cover.  Some sour grapes, some grateful MC’s, all great material.

For this project, we plan to feature our picks.  Some repeats, some others that deserve mention.  Obviously it’s IMPOSSIBLE to feature all of our favorites, but we think this is a fair assessment.  I’m sure this tee will provoke discussion and debate, let’s go.

Collection will be available on www.LAX2JFK.com, Tradition (Thousand Oaks) and Brooklyn Projects (Melrose, LA).  Stay tuned to our blog for more info.
