“Choose your weapon; microphone, beats or the wheels of steel…” or in this case Spraycans.

Multi-talented Modern Day Renaissance Man MF Doom gives Adidas Originals an interview, gets into London, Art & the Art of Graff.  What’s next cooking lessons?  My bad, we did see some of that on MM Food.  Top 5, easy.

Jaylip: Cavalier

Owning a brand is more than a job nowadays, it’s a lifestyle.  One of the opportunities afforded, should you be so lucky, is meeting/making relationships with artists, designers and other brands, both inside and outside of the realm of your specialty, that’s lifestyle.

A while back we met this cat Cavalier.  Boasting, “The best kept secret in rapp,” his style is personified in his rhymes as a Fashion Aficionado, teacher, shaman, chief and rapper.

He was kind enough to sit with us for another installment of JayLip, alongside a sleeping (rather passed out) Quelle Chris!  HAHAHA!  JayLip is an urban slant on the 10-questions interview format made famous by James Lipton on In the Actor’s Studio.  Our interview follows the same general rhythm, sort of a ping-pong line of questions spanning from love to hate and mortality.

JayLip is an urban slant on the 10-questions interview format made famous by James Lipton on In the Actor’s Studio.  Our interview follows the same general rhythm, sort of a ping-pong line of questions spanning from love to hate and mortality.

For this installment we caught up with Fresh Daily in from NY working with one of our favorites Quelle Chris and Cavalier on their upcoming project Stone Horses.  You can download Fresh’s latest, Brooklyn Goodguys here.  Enjoy.

LACMA Through the Mic: Freddie Gibbs X Madlib

Through the Mic is a new concert series at LACMA that explores contemporary Los Angeles hip hop, with an emphasis on the diversity of L.A.-based artists.”  September 20th showcased a few of our favorites, Freddie Gibbs, Madlib, Blu & Exile.  Shit was gully, with a chant started by Mr. Gibbs himself, “FUCK POLICE…”  The show’s backdrop was artist Chris Burden’s Urban Light sculpture, which made for a truly unique experience.  If you’re in L.A. for the last installment Oct. 17th., you don’t want to miss it.

All the usuals in attendance, some notable some infamous.  We were fortunate enough to hang out in the green room for some JayLip interviews, stay tuned for Freddie Gibbs and Earl Sweatshirt.

Tripple OGGG (Goon, Gibbs & Gonz).

Earl Sweatshirt (OF) was a surprisingly humble and knowledgeable dude.  Definitely knows his Hip Hop and definitely not on some Hollywood high horse.

Gibbs, Thuggin’!

A Beardless Nacho and a Fashion Forward Josh the Goon.

The Pros & Cons invites us to their official soft opening celebration.  The homie Adrian’s been doing this Streetwear thing for dog years.  Unwavering.  Doing it the only way he knows how.  Hustle.  In an industry overrun by “cool dudes” and pseudo fashionistas, I’m glad to see a new wave of brands flourishing.  Weigh your options.  Support the real.
